Parent/carer workshop to help children cope with the new school year
Autism Queensland's first scheduled workshop for 2020 will focus on helping children on the autism spectrum cope with the new school year.
"Supporting Your Child to have a Successful Start to the School Year" is a 90-minute workshop designed for parents and carers. It will be held at the Garden City Library, Upper Mount Gravatt on the evening of Wednesday 19 February, 6.30pm-8.00pm.
Topics covered will include helping children manage stress around the new school year. The presenter will also share practical strategies around routine and structure at home, and ways to work in partnership with their teaching and support team at school.
This workshop is suitable for parents of school students of all ages.
A second parent/carer workshop will be held at the library on the evening of Tuesday 25 February, 6.30pm-8.00pm.
"Understanding Sensory Processing Differences for Individuals on the Autism Spectrum" will cover topics including what sensory processing is, common sensory processing difficulties for individuals on the spectrum, and strategies that can help.
