AQ & Early Days are coming to Bundaberg

On Wednesday 17 to Thursday 18 August 2022, AQ and Early Days will be heading to Bundaberg East State School for two days of autism-related workshops.

These workshops offer a range of autism-related topics designed for audiences including parents/carers, therapists, educators/teachers, teacher aides, school staff, OHSC staff, and other professionals working with and supporting children on the autism spectrum.

Practical Strategies for Teacher Aides & School Officers

Who is delivering this workshop? Autism Queensland

Target audience: Teacher aides, school officers, administration staff and other professionals working with and supporting children on the autism spectrum.

When: 3:30pm-5:30pm, Wednesday 17 August 2022

Cost: $105.00 (early bird) / $125.00 (standard)

Topics will include:

  • Practical strategies to support inclusion and participation at school.
  • Understanding underlying reasons for behaviours that may be of concern.
  • Positive, proactive strategies for reducing behaviours of concern.

Autism, Stress & Anxiety

Who is delivering this workshop? Autism Queensland

Target audience: Parents/carers and professionals working with and supporting children on the autism spectrum.

When: 6:00pm-8:00pm, Wednesday 17 August 2022

Cost: $105.00 (early bird) / $125.00 (standard)

Topics will include:

  • Understanding the functional impact of autism and anxiety.
  • Practical and positive strategies to support the young person’s anxiety.

Who is delivering this workshop? Early Days

Target audience: Parents/carers of young children (ages 0-6) on the autism spectrum or those who have concerns about their child.

When: 9:30am-2:00pm, Wednesday 17 August 2022

Cost: FREE (however you must register for your free ticket using the button below)

This interactive session will help you:

  • Understand what autism is, and what it means for your child and your family.
  • Develop practical strategies that can make a difference to your child’s development.
  • Understand early intervention services and supports for your family.

Who is delivering this workshop? Early Days

Target audience: Parents/carers of young children (ages 0-6) on the autism spectrum or those who have concerns about their child.

When: 9:30am-11:30am, Thursday 18 August 2022

This interactive session will help you:

  • Plan for a successful transition to school.
  • Identify what you, your child and the school need to know.
  • Understand early intervention services and supports for your family.

  • Are strengths focused:  We strive to support the development of every person’s potential, recognising that a strengths focus enables growth and empowers decision making and self-advocacy.
  • Use neurodiverse affirming language and approaches: Neurodiversity is part of human diversity and it doesn’t need fixing.  Our workshops and webinars embrace, understand and celebrate all people and their right to belong and participate meaningfully.
  • Provide a safe space: Everyone is welcome to attend and we provide and promote safe and respectful people and spaces to ensure you are comfortable within our workshop.
  • Are co-designed with individuals with lived experience of autism.

Early Days Workshops are:
  • FREE for parents and other family members of young children (0-6 years) who are on the autism spectrum or those who have concerns about their child.
  • Held in small groups and give families opportunities to share ideas with each other.
  • Run by highly skilled and experienced early childhood professionals.
