Autism Advisor Program

The Autism Advisor Program (AAP) was a free information and support service for parents and carers of young children (0-6 years) who had received a diagnosis of autism or who had concerns about their child. It closed on 31 March 2021 when funding ceased.

Autism Queensland was funded by the Department of Social Services (DSS) to deliver the program in Queensland for 18 years and during that period assisted more than 16,500 families.

Until the rollout of the NDIS began in Queensland, our advisors were based across the state delivering face to face supports at the sites where they located and also through outreach services to other areas of the state. At the time of closing, and as most families moved to the NDIS funding model, the, now small, team was based entirely in Brisbane and providing primarily telephone support.

We are incredibly proud to have delivered this vital support to Queensland families and their children. We acknowledge the Federal Government for their foresight in funding the program over its life.

For more information about NDIS support for children aged under seven years who have a developmental delay or disability, and their families/carers (the ECEI approach) please visit www.ndis.gov.au.
