Allied Health & Diagnostic Assessment Services

Autism Queensland has a multidisciplinary team who are qualified to conduct a range of assessments with children, adolescents and adults for diagnostic and other purposes. These assessments are conducted by our team of psychologists, speech pathologists and occupational therapists and are currently available at our centres in Brisbane and Cairns. 

We have several assessment packages available. Please be aware that the type and price of the package may alter depending on the clinician’s assessment of individual need at the time of consultation. More information about the individual assessment tools can be found here ►


Assessment Packages

Child & Adolescent Diagnostic Assessment

This package utilises a multidisciplinary team and is designed for children and adolescents who have not yet been to a Paediatrician or Child Psychiatrist and require a comprehensive assessment to determine a diagnosis. Diagnostic guidelines stipulate that a Paediatrician or Child Psychiatrist must formalise an autism diagnosis. Completed reports generated by this assessment package will, therefore, need to be taken to the Paediatrician or Child Psychiatrist for final diagnosis. Includes:

  • Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – second edition (ADOS-2)
  • Autism Diagnostic Interview - Revised - (ADI-R)
  • Social Responsiveness Scale - second edition (SRS-2)
  • Adaptive Behaviour Assessment System-3 (ABAS-3)
  • Report on assessment findings.

7 Years & Over - Price (approx.) = $1435


Adult Diagnostic Assessment

This package utilises a multidisciplinary team and is suitable for adults who have never received a diagnosis of ASD and require a comprehensive assessment to determine a diagnosis. It includes:

  • Comprehensive case history
  • Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale-2 (ADOS-2)
  • Social Responsiveness Scale - second edition (SRS-2)
  • Adaptive Behaviour Assessment System- third edition (ABAS-3)
  • Other assessment if required (costing to be provided)
  • Report on assessment findings

Price (approx.) = $1260


ADOS-2 as requested by medical specialist

This package is suitable for individuals whose Paediatrician or Psychiatrist has specifically requested an assessment be completed to substantiate a suspected diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and includes:

  • Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – second edition (ADOS-2)
  • Report on assessment findings to the doctor of your choice.

7 years and over - Price (approx.) = $538


Multidisciplinary Assessment (General)

This package utilises a multidisciplinary team and is suitable for individuals requiring a comprehensive functional assessment to facilitate NDIS application or review, and/or to inform therapy and support service access.

This package is recommended for those presenting with complex behavioural concerns and for those whose impairments may have a subtle presentation.

This package consists of*:

  • Initial intake and case history
  • Adaptive Behaviour Assessment System - third edition (ABAS-3)
  • Communication Assessment 
  • Sensory Assessment 
  • Generation of report on findings. 

Child under 7 years - Price (approx.) = $1465
7 years and over - Price (approx.) = $1435
*Other assessments available if required (additional cost); therapist travel if required (additional cost).


Positive Behaviour Support

This package is suitable for individuals requiring a positive behaviour support plan (PBSP). It is recommended for individuals with identified behaviours of concern and who are in the process of applying or reviewing their current proactive and reactive strategies including approved restrictive practices.

Following is a breakdown of a basic package* to develop or review a PBSP conducted by an allied health professional:

  • Information gathering, case history and analysis
  • Behaviour data recording and analysis
  • Functional behaviour observations and analysis
  • Plan development or review (including hypotheses, proactive and reactive strategies and recommendations)
  • One initial training session to assist with plan implementation
  • Travel included. 

Total costings will be calculated based on a minimum of 25 hours to complete the plan.  

*Multidisciplinary assessments are not included in the basic package but highly recommended during this process to more comprehensively inform recommendations and/or meet plan conditions stipulated by the relevant decision maker. Positive Behaviour Support service can be tailored to suit individual needs and to include further training and reviews (additional costs).


Multidisciplinary Assessment (for Supported Independent Living application or review)

This package is suitable for individuals who are applying for or reviewing their Supported Independent Living (SIL) arrangements. It is recommended for those individuals who are seeking suitable accommodation and requiring a functional assessment to ascertain their level of independence in daily living and support needs required.

This package consists of:

  • Initial intake and case history
  • Adaptive Behaviour Assessment System – third edition (ABAS-3)
  • Behaviour observations
  • Daily living task analysis
  • Communication assessment
  • Generation of report on findings

Price (approx., including 15hrs inclusive of travel) = $2690
