You may have heard of neurodiversity, neurodivergence and/or neurodiversity-affirming practice, but perhaps you are unsure about what these terms mean?

The neurodiversity paradigm has changed the way autism is viewed and autistic people are supported, and the recently released Autism CRC National Guidelines further highlight the importance of neurodiversity-affirming supports for autistic people.

In this session we will explore the concept of neurodiversity and help you understand more clearly, what it is. We will also highlight ways in which quality of life can be promoted through neurodiversity-affirming practices in a range of settings including the home, school, workplace and the wider community.

  • What is neurodiversity?
  • Key concepts underpinning neurodiversity-affirming practice.
  • Examples of neurodiversity-affirming practice to understand and support autistic people.

  • Are practical and easy to understand.

  • Are presented by professionals with multi-discipline experience in autism and other areas.
