ABOUT

Stress and anxiety can have a significant impact on many autistic young people. They may be expressed in unexpected ways and be difficult to understand.

This two-part webinar is designed to provide participants with a deeper understanding of the unique relationship between autism and anxiety, offering practical strategies to support autistic young people to manage stress and anxiety in daily life.

It is recommended participants have a general knowledge of autism or have attended the Understanding Autism workshop.

Content has been co-developed with an autistic professional from AQ’s Autism and Mental Health Project and will be facilitated by a teacher who has worked for many years in this field. Both facilitators will refer to professional and personal experience.

 Topics will include:

  • Understanding autism, stress and anxiety
  • Distinguishing between social anxiety and autism specific anxiety
  • Recognising the signs of anxiety in autistic young people
  • Understanding the functional impact of autism and anxiety
  • Evidence informed, neurodiversity affirming strategies to reduce stress and anxiety for autistic young people
  • Empowering caregivers, educators, and professionals with tools to create supportive environments that promote emotional well-being.

OUR SESSIONS:
  • Are practical and easy to understand.
