ABOUT
Autistic girls have historically been overlooked, misdiagnosed, and misunderstood.
This webinar offers an important opportunity to better recognise, understand, and celebrate autistic girls.
As you deepen your knowledge of their unique experiences, the facilitator will share neurodiversity-affirming supports and strategies that can be applied in the home, school, and community, with a special focus on girls aged 3-12.
Topics to be covered will include, but at not limited to:
- Key Characteristics: Understand the traits common to autistic girls.
- Masking and Camouflaging: Explore why autistic girls are more likely to mask their behaviours and the impact this has on their mental health.
- Mental Health: Learn when to seek professional support for mental health concerns and understand the concept of autistic burnout, along with potential solutions.
- Support Strategies: Discover practical approaches for fostering authentic connections and meaningful participation in home, school, and community settings.
- Navigating Friendships: Gain insights into helping autistic girls build and maintain friendships.
- Preparing for Puberty: Learn strategies for supporting autistic girls as they approach puberty.
