ABOUT
Many people may experience demand avoidance in their life. After all, most of us struggle at times with demands placed upon us.
However, for neurodivergent children and youth with ‘demand avoidant’ profiles, this struggle can significantly impact their mental health, wellbeing, and even success in learning and social environments.
Extreme anxiety drives demand avoidance in neurodivergent children and youth. While research in this space is steadily growing, it often goes unrecognised and unsupported.
This workshop will highlight the importance of understanding these profiles to provide effective support, helping to improve social, emotional, and academic outcomes for these children and youth.
Content is informed by current research, the facilitator’s professional experience, and the voices of those with lived experience in this field.
Suitable for Queensland Teacher CPD Annual Requirements, Australian Professional Standards for Teaching 1, 3, & 4.
