MACKAY - Core Strategies for OHSC & Vacation Care

This session has been designed to provide staff working within the OSHC & Vacation care environment with an increased understanding of supporting children in their care who may be on the autism spectrum.
The facilitator will discuss:
The characteristics of autism
The impact of autism on individuals
The importance of understanding the individual in order to support inclusion and maximise participation
Targeted strategies to address identified issues within the OSHC environment
The importance of an individual profile
Participants will have an opportunity to complete and take home an individual learning profile.
Examples and cases will be discussed to highlight challenges and strategies that may be useful for the individual. Questions and sharing of information/ideas is encouraged and highly desirable to enhance learning outcomes for all.
