BRISBANE - Supporting self-regulation for School Students on the Autism Spectrum

This session is for anyone interested in understanding and supporting students on the autism spectrum who have challenges associated with self-regulation at school.
Participants will gain an understanding and insight into the definitions of both self and emotion-regulation, as well as reasons for emotion-regulation difficulties being more common for students on the autism spectrum and how to best support these students in an inclusive school environment.
Discussions will cover:
What is emotion-regulation and why are difficulties more common for students on the autism spectrum?
What does the research suggest is best-practice in supporting self-regulation?
Practical strategies for an inclusive school environment.
Participants will have opportunities to share tips and strategies. We encourage questions and information/idea sharing to enhance learning outcomes.
This workshop is suitable for Queensland teacher CPD Annual Requirements, Australian Professional Standards for Teaching 1, 3 & 4.
