BRISBANE- Supporting Individuals on the Autism Spectrum in the Workplace
Autism Queensland, 437 Hellawell Road, SUNNYBANK HILLS - 11:00 - 14:00
For many individuals on the autism spectrum, obtaining and maintaining meaningful work proves challenging, due to several barriers.
Historically, for young people and adults on the spectrum in Queensland, there has been a paucity of relevant autism-specific vocational opportunities.
For many individuals, this results in a lack of inclusion in socially valued roles such as employee and colleague. Limited educational opportunities, poor environmental fit, stigma and social exclusion are also themes that individuals on the spectrum face in navigating this already complex role.
