ROCKHAMPTON - Understanding and Supporting Girls on the Autism Spectrum (For parents/carers)
Frenchville Sports Club, 105 Clifton Street, North Rockhampton QLD 4701 - 18:30 - 20:00
NB This workshop is for parents/carers of young children/youth on the autism spectrum.
As there are more boys than girls diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, much information about supporting children on the spectrum tends to be based more around behaviours exhibited by boys.
This session will explore the unique support needs of girls on the autism spectrum and will provide specific evidence-based strategies for parents and carers to best support their girls.
Topics to be covered will include:
Understanding the presentation of girls on the autism spectrum
Strategies to support social success in home, school and community settings
Supporting girls with strategies to assist with anxiety.
Questions and sharing of information/ideas are encouraged and highly desirable to enhance learning outcomes for all.
Please note: Childcare is NOT provided.
