SPRINGFIELD - Positive Behaviour Support: Challenging Mindsets and Planning for Behavioural Success

This workshop is for educators, parents and therapists who support children, young people and adults on the autism spectrum. 

Participants attending this workshop will gain an understanding into the ways in which a positive behaviour support framework can assist with understanding and identifying the underlying reasons for challenging behaviours.

Throughout the day we will cover the following topics:

  • Understanding the impact of Autism and Behaviour
  • The purpose of challenging behaviours
  • Identifying and minimising the triggers that may be increasing the likelihood of challenging behaviours
  • Strategies to reduce the likelihood of challenging behaviour
  • Using a framework approach to develop appropriate strategies to support individuals with challenging behaviour
  • Teaching new skills and replacement behaviours.

Participants are encouraged to actively engage in this interactive workshop and will gain practical strategies and ideas in dealing with behavioural concerns.

This workshop is suitable for Queensland teacher CPD Annual Requirements, Australian Professional Standards for Teaching 1, 3 & 4.
