This session has been designed to provide staff working within the OSHC & vacation care environment with an increased understanding of supporting children and youth in their care who may be on the autism spectrum.
The facilitator will discuss:
The characteristics of autism
The impact of autism on individuals within the OSHC environment
The importance of understanding the individual in order to support inclusion and maximise participation
Targeted strategies to proactively set up the OSHC environment for the inclusion of all children and youth.
Questions and sharing of information/ideas is encouraged and highly desirable to enhance learning outcomes for all.
