ASD affects an individual’s understanding of and ability to interact and communicate socially with others. They may also engage in repetitive behaviours and have difficulty coping with changes to routines or activities. ASD is a spectrum condition which means that, while all people with ASD share certain difficulties, this condition can present itself in a variety of ways and to varying extents.
This workshop is for anyone interested in learning more about ASD. It will explore the characteristics of ASD as stated by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders – Fifth Edition (DSM-5).
Topics discussed may include:
The impacts of ASD on individuals
Core strategies to consider when supporting individuals with ASD
Points to consider when goal setting and prioritising interventions and support.
This workshop is recommended for anyone working with or supporting individuals with ASD. It will be:
