Small Changes, Big Difference
16 Jul 2026

A campaign, led by the Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN) and the Real Estate Institute of Queensland (REIQ), is raising awareness of how small accessibility modifications can make a meaningful difference to the lives of people with disability living in private rental housing.
The result of longstanding collaboration between QDN, the REIQ and the Queensland Government through the Department of Housing and Public Works (DHPW), the campaign was co-designed with people with disability and key real estate industry stakeholders.
Small Changes, Big Differences aims to empower renters with disability to understand their rights and feel confident requesting accessibility modifications, while supporting property owners and property managers to understand the benefits of minor modifications and feel confident saying yes.

QDN also welcomes feedback from people with disability and organisations about experiences requesting accessibility modifications in private rental housing or barriers that continue to arise.
