Your Health, Your Way: Improving Health Literacy
15 May 2025
Autism Queensland (AQ) is working with Brisbane South Primary Health Network (PHN) to learn more about autistic and neurodivergent people's experiences navigating and accessing local health care services in the Metro South district.
Understanding health care barriers & improving health literacy.
Your experiences in accessing health care matter. We want to hear about the challenges—and the wins! By sharing what you’ve faced and what’s helped, you’ll be part of creating more inclusive and accessible health care for everyone.
The Brisbane South PHN region covers a large area south of the Brisbane River, including metropolitan, rural and remote island locations. Spanning 4 Local Government Areas including Logan, Redlands, Brisbane southside and the Scenic Rim. The boundaries of the region align with the Metro South Hospital and Health Service. This is the core geographical area of data being collected for this project.
To check if your postcode lays within the Metro South district, click here to visit the Brisbane PHN website where you can explore an interactive region map.
How can you get involved?
If you’re an autistic or neurodivergent person accessing health care in the South Metro district, you can get involved and improve health care outcomes in one of three ways:
- Take our survey: Tell us what’s working and what’s not.
- Join a one-on-one or group chat: Phone call or online.
- Submit a creative expression: Draw, write, or record a short video.
How does your feedback help?
We want autistic and neurodivergent people to easily access and use local health care. Your feedback will help shape a report with recommendations for better access and resources.
Want to see the results? You can choose to be contacted later to find out what others said and what changes are being recommended.
WIN 1 of 3 $50 gift cards: Participants will go in the draw to win!
