Allied health & diagnostic assessments
Autism Queensland (AQ) has an interdisciplinary team of occupational therapists, speech pathologists and psychologists qualified to conduct a wide range of allied health and diagnostic assessments (including autism & ADHD) for all ages.
Our holistic, collaborative assessments provide neurodiversity-affirming support that is tailored to each person’s strengths, needs, and preferences. Clients seeking an autism diagnosis, allied health assessment, or other bespoke assessment are encouraged to consult with a general practitioner (GP), paediatrician, psychiatrist, or clinical psychologist to obtain an appropriate referral.
Depending on your needs and preferences, these services are available at a range of AQ centres across Queensland and statewide online via telepractice (some exceptions). These services are also available face-to-face within the community (travel fees apply).
Please note: Fees apply to AQ services. These services are highly individualised and final costs may vary. Service availability and offerings vary by location and waitlists may apply. Waitlists may close at any time without notice. Not all services are available online. As a registered provider of NDIS supports, NDIS funding may be used (if applicable). Cancellation policy and conditions apply, visit our policy page for full details.
Identity-first language
Autism Queensland recognises that language is personal and respects every autistic person’s right to determine how they wish to be described.
Where an individual’s preference is not known, AQ generally uses identity-first language, such as โautistic personโ, across its resources and communications. Where a different preference is expressed, AQ and its staff aim to use the person’s preferred terminology. Some previously published materials may contain different language and will be updated through ongoing reviews.
In diagnostic, clinical and formal contexts, AQ may use โAutism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)โ, consistent with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, Text Revision (DSM-5-TR) and Australia’s National Guideline for diagnosing autism.

Our assessment packages are available for all ages
These services are highly individualised and final costs may vary depending on the assessment package required, as determined by the practitioner. This will be discussed at or following an initial clinical intake interview, conducted with all clients to ascertain important information regarding client needs, goals, and preferences. With client consent, assessment results can be shared with their treating doctor/s to support follow-up recommendations.
Service costs are calculated using a standard hourly rate depending on the involved practitioner/s. The prices AQ charges for NDIS-attributable services are aligned to the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits Guide. NDIS pricing is subject to change, see the NDIS website for more information or learn more here.ย
Medicare offers several plans and packages that may provide rebates for diagnostic assessments. Eligibility and rebates vary. Speak with your health professional or contact Medicare directly for more information.
