Singer Suellen Cusack Named AQ Ambassador Ahead of World Autism Day Song Release
2 Mar 2026

Autism Queensland has announced acclaimed Australian singer Suellen Cusack as an ambassador for the organisation’s #TrueColours campaign, ahead of the release of her powerful new recording, You’ll Never Walk Alone, during Autism Awareness Month.
The track, recorded with Opera Australia baritone Nathan Lay, will be released in the lead-up to World Autism Day on 2 April 2026. The song carries a message of solidarity for autistic people and families across Australia.
Authenticity has always been at the centre of Suellen’s work. A proud regional Australian and mother of two, she has long used her voice and platform to advocate for greater understanding of autism.
The inspiration behind the recording is deeply personal. Suellen’s son Gabriel, who is level 3 autistic and currently non-speaking, has reshaped her understanding of courage, connection and unconditional love.
“Through Gabriel I’ve witnessed the quiet strength that exists in so many autistic families,” Suellen said.
“This song is my way of letting people know that they are seen, valued and never alone.”
As an Autism Queensland ambassador, Suellen will support the organisation’s #TrueColours campaign, celebrating the individuality, strengths and voices of autistic people and encouraging the community to see and celebrate people for who they truly are.
To mark the release of the song and World Autism Day, AQ and Suellen are inviting autistic individuals and families to take part in the official music video for You’ll Never Walk Alone.
The video will feature members of the autism community sharing moments of everyday life celebrating the diverse ways autistic people express their true colours.
Autism Queensland CEO Frances Scodellaro said Suellen’s advocacy and lived experience made her a powerful voice for the community.
“She brings both extraordinary musical talent and a deeply personal connection to autism. Through the True Colours campaign, we are celebrating autistic voices, and Suellen’s song is a beautiful reminder that no family walks this journey alone.”
Individuals and families interested in participating in the music video are encouraged to register their interest by emailing [email protected].
