7 autistic students to receive bursary for 2027 schooling

Autism Queensland (AQ) is pleased to advise that seven (7) additional students will receive financial assistance to access an education at AQ School in 2027, following latest round of AQ Foundation Bursary applications.

Applications opened in August 2026 (now closed), with families from across Queensland invited to apply for support with school tuition fees. While limited funding means we are unable to assist every applicant, we are delighted to provide seven additional bursaries to help reduce financial barriers and create greater opportunities for autistic students to access specialised education for the school year commencing 2027.

The AQ Foundation Bursary aims to support families experiencing financial hardship, where the cost of school fees may otherwise present a barrier to enrolment. Funded through generous community, corporate and philanthropic donations, the program provides partial assistance towards tuition fees for eligible Prep to Year 12 students across all AQ School campuses, including Distance Education.

Bursaries awarded in this round will contribute towards 2027 enrolments and may cover tuition fees for a school term or contribute towards the full school year. Families are required to make a financial contribution towards school fees, with priority given to applicants experiencing the greatest financial need.

Helping make specialised education more accessible

Access to an education that recognises and supports each student’s strengths, needs and aspirations can make a meaningful difference. Through the AQ Foundation Bursary, we are working to make specialised education more accessible to families who may otherwise face financial barriers.

We are continuing to explore opportunities to grow the program and expand its reach in future years, helping more students access an education that supports their learning, wellbeing and independence.

We sincerely thank everyone who applied for the 2027 bursary round and, most importantly, the generous donors and supporters whose contributions make this program possible.

The AQ Foundation Bursary relies on the generosity of individuals, businesses and philanthropic partners who believe every autistic student deserves the opportunity to access an education that supports their potential. By making a donation or getting involved with the AQ Foundation, you can help reduce financial barriers for families and create more opportunities for autistic students across Queensland.

Together, we can help more young people access an education that supports a life of participation, opportunity and choice.
