David Masters appointed Board Chair of Autism Queensland

Autism Queensland (AQ) is pleased to announce the appointment of David Masters as Chair of the Board, following the organisation's Annual General Meeting on Monday 24 August 2026.
David (right) succeeds Neil Makepeace, whose dedicated service, leadership and commitment have strengthened AQ’s governance and helped guide AQ through an important period of growth, change and community impact.
A portfolio Non-Executive Director with almost 20 years of board-level experience, David brings extensive governance and leadership experience across the not-for-profit, charitable and commercial sectors. His background spans a diverse range of industries, including youth and health services, property development, education, childcare, disability and aged care.
He currently serves on 11 governance and advisory boards nationally. He is also a passionate community volunteer, dedicating his time to supporting mission and values-driven organisations that create meaningful local social impact.
David’s professional background is in robotics engineering, and he holds several distinguished governance credentials. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia, and a Certified Chair.
AQ CEO Frances Scodellaro welcomed David’s appointment and the leadership he will bring to the organisation.

His values and experience align strongly with AQ’s purpose, and we look forward to working with him as Autism Queensland continues to create opportunities for autistic people and their families.”
David said he was honoured to take on the role and looked forward to supporting AQ’s mission and working alongside the organisation’s diverse community.

As Chair, David will lead the Board in supporting AQ’s strategic direction and its commitment to creating opportunities for autistic people of all ages to thrive, belong and live with confidence and choice.
