Early Childhood Intervention – Service Update

Autism Queensland has recently completed a significant review of our early childhood services including a name change to EarlyAQtion Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) Services.

Commencing January 2025, ECI Groups will be moving to 12-week blocks (maximum 11 face-to-face) which will run through school terms and into the first week of each school holidays (although there may be some exceptions).

We are no longer running fixed ‘2-day’ and ‘3-day’ groups with parents and carers now able to choose which days, and the number of days, they would like their child to attend each week.

There is also less expectation that children enrol for a full calendar year. Parents and families may choose for their child to attend 1, 2, or 3 groups per week for 1-4 blocks per year.

Each child will access up to five ‘setting’ visits from their key worker in each 12-week block, completed in the home, mainstream Kindy, ECDP, childcare, etc.

Children can be enrolled in a range of EarlyAQtion ECI supports, depending on their individual goals and family needs. These supports will continue to allow for parent and community involvement alongside direct, targeted therapeutic intervention.

Groups may have a more specific focus, depending on the goal areas of the children. For example, if all children in a group have complex communication needs, the group may focus more this area, with additional support from the speech pathology team.

Contact us to discuss your child’s unique strengths, needs, and goal areas, and we will work together with you to tailor an individualised EarlyAQtion ECI support schedule that will work for your family.
