AQ School Community Consultations – Rockhampton & Mackay
14 May 2024
Autism Queensland is exploring options to further expand its school by opening campuses in Rockhampton and Mackay.
Autism Queensland has delivered specialised education services to autistic children for almost 60 years.
We are delighted to share the news we are exploring the possibility of expanding our services in Mackay and Rockhampton to include campuses of the AQ School.
It is likely both campuses will initially deliver classes for children with a diagnosis of autism who are in the early years of their education, however ultimately the final decision will depend on the level of interest we receive from families and the ages of their children.
Parents, carers, educators and other interested parties are invited to one of the following sessions during which AQ School Principal Cathy Drummond will share information about our school, our plans for the new campuses, and respond to questions and feedback.
AQ School currently has three campuses – two in Brisbane at Sunnybank Hills and Brighton, and one in Cairns at Edmonton. It delivers Distance Education from the school at Sunnybank Hills and will open a campus on the Sunshine Coast in 2025.
