AQ ambassador Emma Tomlinson launches new single Ghost in Brisbane

Multitalented singer/songwriter Emma Tomlinson is gearing up for the launch of her new single Ghost in Brisbane tonight.
After performing professionally for eight years, the Noosa-based artist says she’s both excited and nervous about the gig. “I’ve never ever done my own stuff on a big stage,” she said. “This is really big for me.”
The show will be livestreamed via Emma’s Facebook event page so people who can’t make it to the venue can still enjoy the show. “I have a lot of family and friends who can’t get over the border or are overseas, so I wanted to make it accessible for anyone and everyone. One thing I feel is really important, especially with live music having been so interrupted, is just making sure we support it as much as we can.”
Emma, who along with her brother is on the autism spectrum, says she’s grateful for the support they’ve both had.
“We’ve gained so much from having that support from the NDIS and Autism Queensland while we were growing up and getting to where we are now. I have to be grateful and give back.”

“I want to make sure a little girl or a little boy or someone in high school gets the same opportunities that I did, or even for them to have the opportunities I missed out on. I want to show you can be who you want to be if you just strive for it, and you don’t let anyone tell you no. If you believe in yourself to do it, no matter who you are and how you’re defined and what you have, you can do it.
Her motto is ‘being different makes a difference’. “I make a difference because of the kind of music I make, but also because of what I stand for, and that’s being who you are and making sure you represent that,” she said.
