AUDIENCE

Parents/carers, professionals working with neurodivergent people of all ages.

ABOUT

Many people may experience demand avoidance in their life. After all, most of us struggle at times with demands placed upon us.

However, for neurodivergent children and youth with ‘demand avoidant’ profiles, this struggle can have a great impact on their mental health, wellbeing, and even success in learning and social environments.

Extreme anxiety can also drive demand avoidance in neurodivergent children and youth, and while research in this space is steadily growing, it often goes unrecognised and unsupported.

Therefore, greater understanding is crucial to effectively support these children and youth to achieve better social, emotional and academic outcomes.

The content shared in this webinar is drawn from current research, facilitator experience in this field, as well as voices of those with lived experience.

TOPICS
  • Understanding the presentation and origin of ‘demand avoidance’
  • The importance of understanding each person to enhance their engagement and participation.
  • Neurodiversity affirming practical strategies to support children and youth with a demand avoidant profile.

OUR SESSIONS:
  • Are practical and easy to understand.
  • Have limited numbers to allow for participant interaction and engagement.
  • Allow you to ask questions and develop strategies to help you and your family.
