ABOUT

School non-attendance is a complex situation which is highly stressful for students, families and school staff.  Due to the increased barriers and demands that autistic and neurodivergent students encounter at school compared to their peers, they are more likely to feel that they can no longer continue to attend.  It may not be that the student is unwilling, but that they are actually unable to cope with school.

This webinar aims to support parents/carers and school staff in knowing they are not alone when this situation arises.

Through exploration of the impacts of anxiety, environmental, academic and social demands, strategies will be discussed to support early identification of school non-attendance and working together as a team.

TOPICS
  • The circumstances that may lead to school refusal behaviours.
  • Early identification of school non-attendance.
  • Identifying and addressing the barriers and demands within the school environment.
  • Practical responses to school non-attendance.

OUR SESSIONS:
  • Are practical and easy to understand.
  • Have limited numbers to allow for participant interaction and engagement.
  • Allow you to ask questions and develop strategies to help you and your family.
  • Are drawn from current and evidence-informed practice.
  • Are presented by professionals with multi-discipline experience in autism and other areas.
